Course Information
ELSAs are teaching assistants who have received specific additional training from educational psychologists and specialist staff from whom they receive on going supervision following training. The course was developed by Hampshire Psychology Service.
ELSAs are trained to plan and deliver programmes of support to pupils in their school who are experiencing temporary or longer-term emotional needs. Programmes may be one-to-one or small group and may cover a variety of areas including:
- Recognising and managing emotions
- Raising self-esteem
- Improving peer relationships
- Recovering from loss or bereavement
- Resolving conflict effectively
Duration
5 full training days (one fortnightly) over a term and 4 supervision sessions afterwards in order to gain full certification as an ELSA. Only 24 Spaces available.
Cost
£550. Five days training with lunch provided, post-supervision over 4 sessions and the emotional wellbeing manual every delegate will need.
