Sunflowers Resilience Programme

Academic Year

Sunflowers is an academic year-long programme where children, staff and family activities run in parallel with each other.  The programme was written based on the Resilience Framework (adapted from Daniel and Wassell, 2002) with the aim of providing a whole-school response to developing resilience. The aim of the programme is to develop staff, children and families’ protective factors. This programme is designed to support the development of resilience and mental wellbeing of Primary school children and build teacher confidence in exploring these issues with children.

You will receive EPIC’s Wellbeing Screening Tool and free training to use the system. Researched and developed by EPIC, the tool encompasses 6 areas of psychological wellbeing: friendships, mood, emotional regulation, coping, self-esteem and risk & resilience. The tool includes 2 statements to assess children’s level of development in each area.

You will be provided with a RAG overview summary of all children, highlighting those that are most vulnerable and strategy recommendations.

This Sociogram workshop is based on the work of Robin Banerjee. Staff will learn how to conduct a Sociogram using class data and how to interpret the results.

Aims to aid staff understanding of the peer relationships in their classroom and identify individuals that may need additional support. Strategies to develop positive peer relationships in the classroom will be discussed.
