The training course is for 2.5 days and covers the necessary skills and materials to deliver the Fun and Families group for parents. All participants receive a detailed group facilitator’s guide including step by step session plans. There is an expectation that all staff attending the training complete a portfolio post training to demonstrate understanding and awareness of the theoretical basis, Social Learning Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Theory and the practical application of this within the group.

Centre for Fun and Families staff are available to support with the portfolio post training and do not want the portfolio to be a barrier to enthusiastic and committed staff. This training is ideal for staff working within schools who want to develop group work skills, strategies for working with and supporting parents.

Expectation and Future Training

Expectation and Future Training

Discovery School Academy Trust in partnership with Centre for Fun and Families are committing to delivering four fun and families groups during the academic year 2016/2017.

Staff who complete the training and achieve a ‘pass’ when completing the portfolio will have the opportunity to deliver the Fun and Families group for the parents and carers in their school community with the support from experienced CFF group work practitioners. This is an extremely exciting initiative and an opportunity to make a big difference to families and strengthen the home school relationship.
