
Adherence to HCPC Standards
All EPIC Speech and Language Therapists are registered to practice with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). All SALTs must ensure that the standards of practice and ethics are adhered to. SALT’s are required to renew their practicing certificates every two years with the HCPC. To ensure that a SALT is registered, please refer to the HCPC register which can be found by clicking here!
The HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics:
- Promote and protect the interests of service users and carers
- Communicate appropriately and effectively
- Work within the limits of your knowledge and skills
- Delegate appropriately
- Respect confidentiality
- Manage risk
- Report concerns about safety
- Be open when things go wrong
- Be honest and trustworthy
- Keep records of your work
A Speech and Language Therapist’s responsibility for keeping skills up to date with regular CPD
- Maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of their CPD activities
- Demonstrate that their CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice
- Seek to ensure that their CPD has contributed to the quality of their practice and service delivery
- Seek to ensure that their CPD benefits the service user
- Upon request, present a written profile (which must be their own work and supported by evidence) explaining how they have met the standards for CPD
